I'm going blind straining my eyes against the strong sunlight and getting a fabulous (not) t-shirt cutout tan. Yoks. 16 hrs everyday at work, only to pop into bed when i get home and totally detached from the 花花世界 outside. Not that i'm complaining, i think i'm actually loving it. I think i'm a work masochist of some sort. I think i'm much of a workaholic.
But i do miss supper and chillouts with the boys, late night partying and lazing in bed after, couching with Bleach or a K drama of some sorts, Wii with my bro and sis, dinners and high teas with the girls, nua-ing with a good book, diving with my buddies, holidaying with the fantastic four and just simply laze in bed.
Oh wells.

มวยไทย, pronounced as [muāitāi]

Tis my current obession..also known as The Art of the Eight Limbs. I'm fascinated by this form of hard martial arts with its fluid yet viscious moves. The fast but killer punches, kicks and knees just leave me heart thumping. Violence is in my blood.
Before each and every bout, both fighters must perform the Wai Khru Ram Muay. It's a graceful and aesthtic ritual/tradition in which fighters pay respect to their teachers, parents and things they hold sacred and pray for their safety and victory. The ritual has been developed in different ways, in different regions, even under different teachers and therefore it is theoretically impossible for two fighters to perform identical Wai Khru.
We got ourselves ring-side seats during our visit to Lumpini Boxing Stadium while in Bangkok and it was an eye-opener. Every punch and kick landed could be felt and it touches me just how passionate and dedicated the fighters are to this sport. Truely respect from the heart. GJ and FH were highly inspired. And of cuz, I have my personal favourite fighter: Petchsiri P.Siripong :) Video shows a short part of the Wai Khru Ram Muay. Interesting huh? :)
Apparently, women traditionally were banned from entering the Muay Thai boxing ring and there was no women’s boxing in Thailand. This fact originates from long-held superstitions that a female presence may destroy a Muay Thai boxer’s skill, making him vulnerable to injuries. The belief is that female boxers (Nak Muay Ying) will jinx any Muay Thai ring they fight in :(
Would totally love to go for another Muay Thai event..especially if Petchsiri is fighting! Lol. Muay Thai rocks my boat :)

Bored at Work
Here I am, blogging at work again. It has been slow at the office today..just some quotations to churn out and move-in dates to organize. Compared to my previous stint here for Worldbank and Tigerlive projects, this project is so much more of a breather. Some boring details to my temp job for this summer break: I'm a project coordinator assisting my project manager in Singapore Airshow 08. My PM is in charge of the interior setup of two chalets and so by default, that's what I'm doing. Liasing with the clients and speaking with contractors etc are all part of the package. Perks of this job:I get to see all the flying monsters and machines prior to show dates *beams* Just like for Worldbank and Tigerlive. Behind the scene works can be really interesting and fun to an extent :)
But at the moment, I'm bored. Bored bored bored bored..! :(

out of the blue
This blog was pretty much dead since mid-sem break. Haha. Got chided by ch and gj yesterday for not updating so i'm back, alive and kicking :)
Hit Wala Wala last night with the dudes. Enjoyed Mr Moustache strums and zangs and watever not immensely. Not quite impressed with the bassist, well actually it was a pain to look at him. Am rather disturbed by his habit of rolling his eyes back when he gets/pretends to be high and absorbed in his playing. You'll pretty much just see his whites blinking back at you (like he is in a trance/possessed). Shudders. We had a good laugh though. The lead singer had a good voice, though it always has a happy note to it..which is really really weird when singing to emo heartwrenching songs. Looking forward to hearing him belt chinese numbers at Dragonfly though. Nothing much on the drummer, apart from he is my brother's friend lol.
So that was yesterday..btw, if I have failed to mention/forgot to inform/you haven't yet figure out, I'm BACK in humid ol' Singapore :) Been back for a month odd already. Apart from the weather and the massive number of people around in malls, it has been gold :) Been eating local food like a savage plus loads of sinful desserts and what not ;) Shopping was hell with all the people around due to the xmas season but I've managed to snag enough to burst my already bursting luggage back to Melbourne 1 month odd before departure. Yikes. That doesn't quite stop me though, I've a soft spot for way too many things haha.
Singapore hasn't changed much apart from the sudden increase in people and cars (I think!). It's awesome to be home with the family and friends :) Loving my newly revamped house with the kbox system and Wii and huge ice dispensing fridge haha. Must be the reason why I've been feeling domesticated since I've been back. Or perhaps it's cuz of the crowds that deters me. Or perhaps I'm getting old already. Turning 24 in 2 days..yoks. Not much thoughts about that, it's just a number for now :) I might start to panic when I turn 27..ask me then.
Been drinking too much beer of late. One a day or one every alternate day (as gj adamantly puts it) does not sit too well with my 'trying to lose the excess bulge gained over winter'. Been eating way too much for that anyways too so Bleah. Food rocks my boat for now :)
Thailand trip with gj and fh was great minus the sweltering heat and getting conned like 70% of the time haha. Quite an experience I would say! The 'pretending to be M'sian', lung killing Tuk Tuk rides, the 'PPP, HS, H etc ' acronyms, running away from Patpong sleazy touters and fierce stall vendors, trying to direct taxi drivers with limited English to our much elusive Take a Nap hotel, chillin out at Khao San with chilli lined cards, lomo and non-lomo shots, Thai cuisines, atas Spring (not Summer)....the list goes on. The dudes felt inspired by the Muay Thai boxers while I fell in love with Petchsiri P. Siripong lol. Respect to all the boxers! Ring-side views rocks! :)
I think I just wrote a mini essay. Did I mention I'm at work? Lol.
Happy 08 peeps! Much love.
