i'm a lill bored from studying about b and t cells and what not. need a tiny break from those monsters :)
anyhows, a conversation among the three of us at dinner post sex and the city movie came to mind. steve cheated on miranda with another woman (in the movie), broke down one night and told her about it. said it was a mistake, just sex, he still love her and nothing has changed. (right..) miranda basically freaked and left him.
does ignorance=bliss in this context? do we really want to know if our man is cheating/cheated on us when he still acts/is the part of a loving husband/boyfriend? as he says..it is a mistake done on a whim of folly one lonely night.
meelin was all for the truth between couples and thought steve did the right thing. else, the relationship is just built on lies and all the promises about honesty etc has gone out of the window with the potted plant (which the woman might throw).
claudio, however, stands firm in his belief that if you have the guts to commit it, have the guts/strength to keep it to yourself and not destroy the other person's perfect life because of your moment of weakness. hmm. the woman might forgive, but never forget.
this is tricky. i mean, if it was really just a mistake and not a continuous affair of some sorts, maybe it is better to live in ignorance? in light of that, the man then better make sure he does not make another mistake. otherwise, he's definitely flying out of the window with the pot when the woman comes to know about it, one way or another. bad things always have an amazing way of revealing themselves.
if revealed, perhaps it all boils down ultimately to how much love the couple shares then. if the woman/man loves the man/woman that much, the relationship could be salvaged and this cheating buried in their past (the cheating party must really feel remorse in this case). maybe it might even strengthen their relationship, who knows?
but, what if the man/woman cheats again? there'll always be a niggling paranoia playing somewhere in your head wouldn't it?
this doesn't really seem to be going anywhere does it? hah, much like the egg and chicken question. i guess to make life simpler, it's best to practice monogamy and keep your hands and what not to yourself, if you can.
right.
time to get back to studying :)
oh yes, miranda and steve got back together in the end and live happily ever after.
